Fashion Help: The Philadelphia Flower Show

It's not often that I come to you for fashion help, mainly because I rarely stray far from the simple shirt and jeans ensemble that I don on a daily basis.  But, there comes a point in every woman/mom/wife/blogger's life when she has attend an event. Outside the home. In public. With other people. Who most likely won't be wearing jeans and a tee-shirt.

I know. Frightening.

Egads.

Such a time is coming up this Friday, when I'll be attending the Special Preview Tour of the Philadelphia Flower Show on behalf of the Philly Burb Moms.  Here, I'll get to see final set up, hear some presentations and generally get SUPERGIDDYPEEMYPANTSEXCITED for the Flower Show's Grand Opening on Sunday March 4. (If you don't already know, the show runs March 4-March 11 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. You should go. Srrrrriously).

So anyway. I feel like I should be a little more spruced up with all those pretty flowers abounding.  And since I consider it a good day when I leave the house in a matching outfit, I figured I should do some preliminary outfit planning.

I'm nothing if not thorough.

I don't have any superfluous cash hanging around to invest in a new outfit, so I have to (brace yourselves) work with what I already have.  ::sigh::   I've picked out a few pieces that can be put together for a number of combinations (or is it permutations? Any math majors out there?).

To show them to you, I put together 3 outfits and had Hubby take pictures.  I'm not even sure these should be worn in public. But I figure if I present you with the raw materials, you can mix and match for a reasonably good outfit.

(Please excuse poor photo quality. We were using a smartphone camera).

OK.   Here we go.

Outfit #1:

Outfit #2:
(not as thrilled with this one - but needed to showcase these possible ensemble pieces. And no, I did not arrive on a horse - what the heck is with that stance?!?)

Outfit #3:

So what say you?  Which shirt should I wear, and with what pants? Shoes? Cardigan? Are these options horrific? Should I just wipe the canvas clean and start over?

Go to work: Mix, match, but for the love of all things sacred and holy, don't let me leave the house like a wreck.

Can't wait to hear your advice!  Now just to decide how to wear my hair...

Disclosure: This post is in no way sponsored by the Philadelphia Flower Show. I just want to look hot when I attend as a featured writer for Philly Burb Moms. Word.

  2. So much fun! I vote #1 (though #3 is a close second.) Maybe even put the red flats WITH outfit #1?

    1. Good advice! I think if I can swing it, red flats are definitely in. I couldn't tell if it matched #1?

    1. I do too! I'm not sure if I can wear that top with pinstriped pants though? Maybe skinny jeans with that top? Can I pull it off with a black cardigan too? No? Is it sad that I need an entire blog of people to help me get dressed?

  5. Def outfit #3...very flattering. Love the red shoes. To switch it up, maybe pair the skinnies with outfit#3 shirt & shoes.

    1. Red shoes are winning by a landslide!! I'm thinking outfit 3 as well - but possibly with the skinny jeans? Maybe?

  7. I like Option #3, too! It's the clear winner. But, I'm more than a little obsessed with all that shredded paper on the table to the left. What's UP with all that shredded paper anyway? LOL Have fun! You are gorgeous no matter what you wear anyway.

    1. Haha - Jen O - it's TOTALLY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS. And we only took them down A WEEK AGO. And Hubby left them all tangled and now they are just a big lighted hairball that is sitting on our dining room table. I'm not even sure they can be Untangled. Ugg Looks like we'll have to buy new ones next year....

White flowy shirt and cardigan from #1.....with the black pinstripe pants from #3....with the red flats.
    viola.

for the hair, leave the part as is...tie a red ribbon around just behind the part (like a headband)
    Paint your nails red.
    DONE!

  11. I think the flowy shirt would look best with the skinny jeans. They are all cute though!

  14. You look awesome in #3. If you want to look more professional, stick w/ the pinstripe pants. If you want to go more casual, you can easily swap in the skinny jeans!

    1. Thanks! I may just do the skinny jeans. Although, someday soon I just need a shopping trip for some new threads!

  15. I like #3 the best but would pair the black pin stripe pants with the red flats, white top and a different scarf with a pattern in it! Also would wear hair pulled back.
